Types of Nursing Care
Care Services – Type of Nursing Care Provided
We provide 24 hour nursing care and welcome a wide range of residents. We care for older persons with all types of physical disabilities. We provide long-term, short-term, convalescence and respite care and we can cater for residents with Dementia, Acquired Brain Injury and those undergoing Palliative Care.
Residents can avail of the services of their own GP within surgery opening hours. In the event that they do not have a GP we can assist them in choosing a local GP.
Outside of surgery hours, MIDOC provide a GP service if required.
The nursing care incorporates the following for each resident:
- Each Resident has their own individual care plan that is person centered. Residents and/or their family/representative are consulted in the development and review of their care plan.
- Individual needs and independency is promoted and maintained.
- Social, spiritual and personal needs are met through individual care plans and daily activities.
- Dementia specific care plans are developed by nursing staff in conjunction with Old Age Psychiatric Services, the resident’s GP and the resident themselves.
- An Bord Altranais Registered Staff Nurses are available at all times.
- All care assistants have completed FETAC Level 5 training.
- All staff are Garda Vetted and previous employer references are obtained.
- Extra training is provided as identified by training needs, risk assessments and per legislative requirements.
- Staff training programmes ensure that nursing and care staff are responsive to the needs of the Resident and that ‘best practice’ techniques are sought out and utilised on an ongoing basis.
